Welfare schemes for journalists initiated

Kokrajhar:  The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) BTC executive member of Information & Public Relations Dr. Nilut Swargiary inaugurated vertical extension building of Regional Office-cum Council Head of Department (CHD) office, Information & Public Relations located at Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar today.

The building consists of a conference hall, a sitting hall, two bedrooms for guests. The executive member also inaugurated Bodoland Laithun, the bilangual monthly newsletter.

Later a ‘Get Together’ programme with the media persons of Kokrajhar Press Club was also held with the BTC executive member.

Interacting with the media, the BTC executive  member said that the BTR administration has taken up various measures for the welfare of media personnel in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Swargiary said various initiatives have been taken up for the welfare of media persons including financial assistance to media, group insurance, constituting media board and financial assistance for construction of journalist colony.

He said an award will be initiated for journalist.

Lauding the role played by the media fraternity in highlighting various issues of the region and brining to the notice of the govt and the world, he said the media has always played a very decisive role and expect the same in the BTC in coming days too.

BTC deputy secretary Anitya Brahma, Regional officer cum CHD, IPR, BTC Ansuma Mohilary, BTC PRO Sameswar Basumatary, DIPRO Kokrajhar TN Bora, DIPRO Chirang Gagan Narzary, SDPRO Gossaigaon and Parbhajhora were also present.
