The work for launching temporary girders for the Elephant Underpass at Km 505A/400-500 in the B Line track between Madukkarai and Ettimadai Railway Stations has been successfully completed today(21.12.2022).
Two temporary girders were launched for the first underpass with Nine hours of traffic Block from 07.30 hrs. to 16.30 hrs. on 21.12.2022. (The train traffic through the B-Line restored at 16.30 hrs.) Four MEMU train services were cancelled and two train services were partially cancelled to facilitate the girder launching.
The Underpass
Underpass coming up will be of six meters in height and 18.3 meters in width.
The construction of Underpass, is the first of its kind project being implemented in Southern Railway, was sanctioned by the Ministry of Railways at a cost of Rs.7.49 Crore on an out of turn basis.
The facility of Underpass is being provided for the easy and safe passage of Wild Elephants.
