Thiruvananthapuram: A lady lawyer has been brutally assaulted by her senior.
Shamili Justine, a young lady lawyer, practicing in the Thiruvananthapuram district court has been brutally beaten up by her senior, Advocate Bailin Das. The lady advocate has serious bruises on her face and she has been admitted in the government general hospital. According to reports her face and neck has serious injuries since “she was beaten up by a metal road” and the doctors have advised scanning to ascertain if there was any fracture or deep injury.
According to another lady advocate practicing in the same court, “Adv Shamili has filed a police complaint and a case has been registered” under non-bailable sections of BNS. It’s also reported that the accused male lawyer has been suspended from the primary membership of the Vanchiyoor Bar Association on a complaint from the victim. The Bar Association, though was initially reluctant to take any action against the accused, on the swelling from the fellow advocates suspended Advocate Das and reported the crime to the nearest police station, media reports said.
Advocate Shamili told the media that the accused has been misbehaving with his juniors, particularly the lady advocates and “physically assaulted her many times. But he always manages to manage victims, including me, shamelessly apologising.” But this time the assault was too cruel and she has lodged a proper criminal complaint to the nearest police station.
