GUWAHATI : Assam Police shoots one arrested accused in police custody. Unlike earlier cases, police have made similar claims that the accused was shot when he tried to escape from police custody. According to police, the dacoit has been identified as Anwar Hussain alias Boga and his accomplice, who were allegedly involved in several cases. Along with the murder, palashbari on the outskirts of Guwahati was arrested with weapons and ammunition.
A senior police officer claimed that “On Wednesday, we took the main culprit to Barihat Bhalla to recover more weapons. At that time, he tried to escape and we had to shoot to stop him. One bullet hit the right leg of the accused and he was sent to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment, he said. The duo was involved in the murder of a businessman in Bijoynagar two years ago. Police said they have also been named in several snatching, theft, dacoity, rangadari and murder cases in Kamrup district. At least 15 suspected militants and criminals have been killed in police custody in the state since May.
