Assam : The woman professor wanted to cut off the rescued turtle

Guwahathi: In Assam, an extinct rare species of molds have been saved from selling in the fish market. Thanks to a professor in Assam, a turtle of the Nilsonia Hurum species, recorded in the red list of ICUN, was rescued on Monday from being sold in the fish market. An official said that the head of the Department of Life Sciences and Bioinformatics at the University of Assam had gone to Sarbani Giri Fish Market and saw that one person was selling a living turtle of the ‘ Nilsonia Hurum ‘ species. A forest official said that the person wanted to sell the turtle by dividing it into pieces, but Giri immediately stopped him from doing so and proposed to buy him alive for Rs 4,000. The person gave it to the turtle Giri. Giri, after bringing the turtle home, called the Cachar Forest Division in Silchar to send it to his natural habitat. The forest workers took the tortoise from the professor and thanked him for saving his life. This turtle species is found in South Asia and the IUCN (International Union for conservation of nature) has placed this species in the red list of danger.
