‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’ Launch: PM recalls sacrifices made by women freedom fighters

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that people and the nation’s dreams are no different and our progress lies in the progress of the nation. He said, this feeling and understanding is becoming the biggest strength of the people in New India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the national launch ceremony of Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav se Swarnim Bharat Ke Ore through video conferencing. The program unveiled year-long initiatives dedicated to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the Brahma Kumaris, which include more than 30 campaigns and over 15 thousand programs and events. During the event, a song dedicated to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, by Grammy Award winner Mr. Ricky Kej, was released. The Prime Minister flagged off seven initiatives of Brahma Kumaris. These include My India Healthy India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat-Self Reliant Farmers, Women-Flag Bearers of India, Power of Peace Bus Campaign, Andekha Bharat Cycle Rally, United India Motor Bike Campaign, and green initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The Prime Minister said, the country needs everyone’s cooperation and efforts. He stressed that there is a need to develop a system wherein there is no place for discrimination and which stands on the foundation of equality and social justice. He said, the country is witnessing a New India where decisions are new and progressive. He said, India maintains its original nature in the adverse situation and this is the strength of the country.

Recalling the women’s power and the sacrifices made by the women freedom fighters, Mr. Modi said, the country is remembering their sacrifices during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He said, Rani Lakshmibai, Kittur Chennamma, Ahilyabai Holkar, Savitribhai Phule maintained the identity of India. He said, the participation of women in the country’s democracy is increasing. Talking about the success of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, he said, this scheme has improved the sex ratio and it is a clear indication of New India.

Stressing on preserving the country’s culture, civilization, values, spirituality, and diversity, Mr. Modi said, technology, infrastructure, education, health need to be continuously modernized simultaneously. Highlighting the importance of this Amrit Kaal, he said, this is not a time for dreaming while sleeping, but for fulfilling our resolutions by waking up. He said, the upcoming 25 years will be the pinnacle of hard work, sacrifice, and austerity. He said, it is a time to get back in the next 25 years, what our society has lost in hundreds of years of slavery. He said, when the country is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, then it is our responsibility that the world must know India properly.

Talking about the importance of duties in nation-building, the Prime Minister said, people only talked about rights and fought for their rights in the last 75 years. He said, ignoring one’s duties has played a huge role in keeping India weak. He said, the country will scale a new height, and evils prevailing in the society will be removed if the people will take the country forward on the path of duty.

The Prime Minister also talked about the ongoing efforts to tarnish the image of India. He said, there is a lot going on at the international level as well. He said, this is not politics, this is the question of the country.

On this occasion, Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that this programme will give the world a glimpse of India’s glorious culture and history. He said, the nation has been celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav since last year for the creation of self-reliant India, developing India’s heritage, promoting local for vocal, remembering the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle, and making Ek Bharat and Shrestha Bharat. He said, lakhs of people are participating in Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other dignitaries participated in the event.

The nation is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav as the country is going to complete 75th year of Independence this year. The Prime Minister launched the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 12th March last year from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was launched 75 weeks before 15 August 2022 and will continue till 15 August 2023.
