Bodo literary observed Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: The 70th Bodo Literary day or Boro Tunlai San, was observed in a befitting manner to mark the foundation day of Boro Sahitya Sabha on Tuesday.

In Kokrajhar, the Boro Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Centrally observed the day at Chandamari in Kokrajhar in a befitting manner. As part of the programme, BSS president Toren Boro hoisted the sabha flag followed by homage to martyrs of Bodo language and literature movement by vice President Ramila Islary and Dinanath Basumatary.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief executive member Pramod Boro unveiled the statue of former BSS president Bineswar Brahma. Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, writers, students and others participated in the program.

The All Bodo Students Union, Bodoland University and Kokrajhar Government College also observed the Bodo literary  day with various programme.

The day was observed by district and unit committees of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and educational institutions in different parts of Assam, West Bengal and Meghalaya where there are Bodo population.

It was on this day in 1952 that the Boro Sahitya Sabha was formed with Jaybhadra Hagzer and Sonaram Thaosen as President and Secretary respectively.
