Five Bills passed during BTC Autumn Session

Kokrajhar:: The two-day Autumn Session of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly concluded on Thursday at BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.

On the concluding day, five bills have been passed which includes: Bodoland Selection Bill-2021(BSB), Bodoland Revolving Fund (BRF) Forest & Wildlife-2021 Bill, Bodoland Medical Attendance Bill-2021, The Bodoland Legal Meteorological Enforcement Bill-2021 and Bodoland Market & Fair (Management & Control) Bill -2021.

The session chaired by Katiram Boro, speaker of BTC Legislative Assembly in the chair, started with questions hour. The House discusses various issues related to erosion, education, health and forest.

BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro informed that the BTC administration has been emphasizing bringing a healthy educational environment in the region and necessary steps are being taken for teacher’s appointments in the schools. A vision document was also played by BTR chief executive member in the House.

The Pramod Boro led BTC Legislative Assembly on the first day resolved to institute CBI inquiry into series of fratricidal killings between 2008 to 2013 in Bodo belts and CID inquiry into massive irregularities in various departments during by previous Hagrama Mohilary led BPF government in the Council.

The opposition leader Derhasat Basumatary lamented that the opposition members were not given enough time to express their points and grievances.  He said the opposition members must also be taken into confidence on any development issues in the region.
