Haflong :By removing unwanted boulders from the side of main road of Haflong from Lower Haflong the Clean Haflong initiative was launched in presence of Thai-tsho Daulagupu, Principal Secretary, N C Hills Autonomous Council along with officials, social activists etc. of Friday.
“Clean Haflong initiative” is a movement started in consultation with close members from different organisations.
Talking to this correspondent Daulagupu said ‘It is not a government organisation/initiative. It is just about Haflongites willing to make Haflong cleaner. Through this initiative it is felt that Haflong would definitely become cleaner. It is not about taking up a broom, sweep somewhere, take pictures and post it on social media. It is about a behavioural and attitudinal change. To imbibe and inculcate civic sense so that cleanliness becomes a habit and cleaning becomes unnecessary this initiative is aimed to exchange views to tackle with garbage, unruly parking, encroachment etc. the idea is to involve people of all communities, all walks of life and all ages in making Faflong a cleaner place’.
He also said, as regards participation, if you are enjoying your paan and not spitting around you have participated, if you encourage your child to bring back home the empty packet of chips you have contributed, if you convince the shopkeeper in your locality to keep a dustbin outside the shop you have motivated and if you have parked your vehicle orderly you have done a wonderful job.
