Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that all precautions related to Corona must be taken in the state but at the same time it should also be kept in mind that the economy should not be adversely affected. We have to stop Corona infection as well as give pace to the economy. The public should be motivated to adopt self-discipline rather than imposing restrictions on Corona control.
Chief Minister Chouhan was holding a meeting related to revenue collection at Mantralaya in the state today. Commercial Tax minister Jagdish Deora, Mineral Resources Minister Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Manoj Govil, Principal Secretary Smt. Deepali Rastogi etc. were present in the meeting.
During a review of department-wise revenue collection in the meeting, it was told that compared to the previous year, where excise income is expected to decrease, mineral income is likely to increase this year. The department has received updated estimate of Rs 9 thousand 300 crore in excise income. The budget estimate for mineral income is Rs 4 thousand 982 crore against the latest estimate of Rs 5 thousand crore. The updated estimate against the budget estimate of Rs two thousand 500 crore in transport income is Rs 2 thousand 500 crore only. Similarly, increase in stamp and registration is expected. Under this, the budget estimate is Rs 5 thousand 600 crore against Rs 5 thousand crore.
A hike of 10 percent has been registered in Commercial tax in the state in September compared to last year. It has an updated estimate of Rs 17 thousand 763 crore this year. An increase in VAT is also estimated this year as compared to previous year. This year the latest estimate is of Rs 13 thousand 9 crore against the budget estimate of Rs 11 thousand 715 crore in VAT.
Status as on October 31, 2020 as compared to previous year
In a review of revenue income up to October 31 compared to the previous year during the meeting, it was told that till this period, a collection of Rs 18 thousand 775 crore of Commercial Tax has been made in the state, which is 1.50 percent less than the previous year. Similarly, Rs two thousand 948 crore has been collected in stamps and registration, which is 9.72 percent less than the previous year. Rs four thousand 649 crore was collected in excise, which is 24.87 percent less than the previous year. The revenue collection under all heads except excise for the remaining time of the year is likely to increase compared to the previous year.
