SIVASAGAR : More than a thousand saplings were planted and an awareness meeting was organized in different parts of the district on the occasion of the 73rd Forest Festival at the initiative of Sivasagar Social Bananikran Division. On the occasion of Forest Festival from July 1 to July 4, Sivasagar Samajik Bananikaran Forest Division has set up Garhgaon Primary School under the district, Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Sivasagar Baniyan College and Ambedkar Senior Secondary School in Disangmukh organized a awareness meeting in line with the situation besides distributing various species of saplings including mango, kathal, jamu, lateku, paniyal, bogijamuk free of cost. Speaking on the occasion of the awareness meeting, Biren Chandra Kalita, forest authority of the social bananikaron division, said that various natural calamities have started in the state due to lack of trees. The tree is the storehouse of oxygen. So Kalita mentions that every socially responsible person should plant saplings even if it is a single one. The meeting was attended by principals of schools and teachers teachers of vice presidents.
