Bengaluru : The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Gopalan College of Engineering and Management successfully hosted GETOCS V6.0 (Growing Electronics Technology Oriented Congregation Stage), its flagship annual technical fest.
Launched in 2019 under the guidance of Dr. C. Prabhakar, General Secretary of Gopalan Foundations, and Dr. S. Anantha Padmanabhan, Head of the ECE Department, GETOCS has grown into a prominent platform for budding engineers to showcase innovation and technical expertise.
This year’s edition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 506 students representing colleges across Karnataka, competing in six diverse events: Technical Paper Presentation, Project Exhibition, Technical Debate, Circuit Debugging, Technical Quiz, and RC Car Race.
The event was graced by Dr. Bhatia, former Additional Director of LRDE, as Chief Guest, and Dr. Murali, former Vice Principal of Ramaiah Institute of Technology, as Guest of Honor. Both dignitaries served as judges for the Technical Paper Presentation.
Dr. Bhatia emphasized the importance of strengthening capabilities in hardware and semiconductor technologies, while Dr. Murali encouraged students to pursue in-depth, interdisciplinary research that integrates electronics with emerging technologies for societal advancement.
Sharing his perspective, Dr. S. Anantha Padmanabhan highlighted that artificial intelligence is an integral part of modern electronics, with the potential to optimize communication systems and address challenges such as electromagnetic interference (EMI).
The Technical Debate on the theme “Electronic Warfare: Boon or Bane” was judged by Mr. G. Anantha Padmanabhan, former Secretary of the Indian Economic Society, who remarked that no form of warfare can truly be considered a boon due to its inherently destructive nature.
The Technical Quiz was conducted by renowned national quiz master Mr. Dhanasekhar, adding a competitive and engaging dimension to the event.
The program received strong support from Mrs. Sunitha Prabhakar, Director of Gopalan Foundations, who stated, “GETOCS is a valuable initiative that fosters technical excellence among students and reflects our continued commitment to advancing engineering education.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Harsha Jeeth M, Assistant Professor and main coordinator, who expressed gratitude to all participants, judges, and organizers. The day culminated in vibrant cultural performances, celebrating both technical and creative talents.
