GUWAHATI : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asserted that his party keeps its promises. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday went to the famous Kamakhya temple in Guwahati and offered puja there. Talking to reporters at the temple, Rahul said his party is not like the BJP, the Congress plays promises made to the people during the elections. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also said, “BJP does not try to provide employment, does not try to help the youth, reverses assam attack. The CAA is an attack on Assam, it is not just a law, it is an attack on your history, language and brotherhood and, therefore, we are stopping it.

Asked what he would do if his party wins elections in the state, he said, “We have guaranteed five things. How will the Congress fulfil these ‘ five promises ‘? We fulfil what we promise. The Congress leader said that in Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka, his party had promised to waive off the debt of farmers and completed it after coming to power. Referring to one of the five promises, he said, “In Assam, we have promised to increase the wages of tea plantation workers to Rs. 365. Gandhi offered puja at Shaktipeeth on Nilachal Mountain before holding election rallies in Chaygaon and Berthetri. Gandhi could not hold rallies in Silchar, Haflong and Bokjan on Tuesday due to heavy rains and inclement weather. He tweeted that his party will fulfil all its “five promises” when it comes to power in the state. The Congress has promised that it will not implement the disputed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam, provide employment to five lakh youths, provide free electricity to all households up to 200 units every month, provide monthly assistance of Rs. 2,000 to each housewife and also increase the minimum wages of tea plantation workers. The state will go to polls in 39 constituencies in the second phase and 40 seats will go to polls in the last phase on April 6. In the second phase, elections to 39 seats will be held on Thursday and 40 seats in the final phase on April 6. In Assam, 79.97 per cent of the total 81.09 lakh voters exercised their franchise in 47 assembly constituencies during the first phase of polling on March 27.
