GUWAHATI : Amid border tensions with China, the Defence Ministry has hit the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh, 30 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC). A military outpost will be set up where 14.12 8 acres of strategic land has been acquired. The defence ministry has been gradually acquiring strategic land on the China border for the last several months. This limit is indicative of a change in the centre’s stand towards infrastructure development. Indian Army 4 Corps (also known as Gajraj Corps) Senior officer of Gajraj Corps of Tezpur, Assam, told media persons this evening that China needs 14 acres of land in Arunachal Pradesh to respond.

China built three modern new villages and more than 500 houses in Arunachal Pradesh. The official said that 18 months ago, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs were briefed on the work of the People’s Liberation Army by the Indian Army. He said that after getting the green signal from the Union Home Ministry and the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Army has made full preparations to remove the Village built by China in the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Based on the strategy of the Prime Minister’s national security advisor Ajit Doval, the Union Home Ministry and the Ministry of Defence have made major plans to give a befitting reply to China. Based on this, the Indian Army is offering all modern arms and ammunition from Tezpur headquarters in frontier areas.

The Indian Army, a senior officer of the 4 Corps, said the Supreme Court had issued an order to remove forest dwellers in 21 states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur, where about 2 million lands each potentially claim to represent one house. Arunachal Pradesh is currently occupied by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army on behalf of the Communist Government of China. There were no Indian people in this land. Sources said, the army will use this land for building construction for its units deployed on the LAC. They say that this land acquisition is routine in nature and has been done as per the requirement of units. In Arunachal Pradesh, two army corps are deployed, 3 corps at Dimapur and 4 corps at Tezpur. They have been deployed on frontline fronts due to border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh and other areas.

Senior Officer of Indian Army 4 Corps said The Ministry of Rural Development has notified the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Act- 2013 as a ‘appropriate authority’ for land acquisition in a village with about 150 population under the right to fair compensation and transparency. This means that the Defence Ministry has now been given ownership of this 14.128 acres of land. The land is 30 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh. located in Yorani II village of West Siang district. In fact, amidst the stalemate with China on the LAC, the Union Home Ministry had advised the Defence Ministry to acquire this land to set up military outposts in the China border area and deploy various army contingents.

Prior to this, the Ministry of Defence has acquired 202 acres of strategic land near Sumdorong Chu Flashpoint in Arunachal Pradesh, which had been eyeing China for years. There was a dispute with China in 1986 with China over the same land and the armies of the two countries were facing a face-off for eight months. This was the last time with China before the current standoff, when a large number of about 200 Indian soldiers were deployed there. India plans to develop a new defence structure on the same 202.563 acres of Lungro Grazing Ground (GG) at Bomdir village, 17 km from Tawang town close to the China border. That is why Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also laid the foundation stone of the Nechifu tunnel on an important road to Tawang on October 12, 2020. It will also be constructed by border Roads Organisation (BRO). After the formation of this tunnel, it will be easier for the army to go to the China border.
