Karnataka starts COVID 19 antigen tests along with RT PCR tests in BengaluruAuto Draft

Due to the evolving situation of COVID 19 in Karnataka, testing protocol has been revised. For an early detection of infection the state has started COVID 19 antigen tests along with RT PCR tests in Bengaluru where the cases are detected in large numbers in the last few days.

The health department will carry out 20,000 antigen tests in Bengaluru beginning today. state reported 2313 new cases yesterday, with Bengaluru urban district contributing the highest of 1447 positive cases.
 
The city has 11,687 active cases with 206 deaths with a recovery rate of a little over 22 percent. Hence the state Government has decided to take up antigen tests along with the RT PCR tests in Bengaluru. Karnataka’s fatality rate is 3.8 percent and that of Bengaluru urban is 6 percent.
 
Tumkuru district with a fatality rate of 12.9 percent is highest in the state followed by Dharwad with 9.5 percent and Bidar with 9.3 percent. The figures related to people in active quarantine reflects upon the magnitude of the pandemic in the state.
 
There are 66,573 people in active quarantine in Bengaluru urban district, 6233 in Dharwad, 4817 in Kalburgi, 4672 in Belagavi and 4163 in Dakshina Kannada district. In other districts those in quarantine are below 4000 taking the total in quarantine at 1,28,456 persons across the state.
