Uttar Pradesh is facing the problem of locusts in many districts since a large group of locusts have attacked in eastern and western parts of the state. Administration is making all efforts to kill the locusts, while villagers are also taking necessary steps to keep them away.
Principal secretary agriculture Devesh Chaturvedi says that currently few locust groups are active in western parts of state in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra and Bulandshahar districts while few small groups are also active in Eastern part of a state in Basti, Kushinagar and Sidharth nagar districts. He said that with change in direction of the Wind, the locust groups are also changing their movement. the state government is tracking their movement and taking necessary steps.
State government is also providing compensation to those farmers whose crops have been damaged by these locust groups. Devesh chaturvedi said that there is a chain of communication through which villagers have been informed prior to the attack of locusts and they are also helping administration by promptly giving information about the movement of these locust groups.
