Long term planning, continuous commitment only way to success, says PM Modi

Gandhi Nagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the youngsters of the country not to look for any shortcut to success and there is only one mantra for success- ‘Long term planning, and continuous commitment’. Neither a victory can ever be our last stop, nor a defeat.

Modi said this after inaugurating the ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ – Gujarat’s Mega annual sports event at Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The state-level sports programme was first launched in 2010 by Mr. Narendra Modi himself when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The Prime Minister has also digitally unveiled Gujarat Sports Policy- 2022-27 on this occasion. The new policy is aimed to make Gujarat the sports hub of the nation.

In this 11th edition of Khel Mahakumbh- 2022, more than 47 lakh people have registered for this state-level sports event. Different games will be organized at over 500 venues across the state during this Khel Mahakumbh.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Modi said that the seed of Khel Mahakumbh sown by him in 2010 has grown into a huge tree and the number of participants have increased from 13 lakhs in 2010 to 55 lakhs in 2022. He said that the enthusiasm and the vigor visible in the youth gathered indicated that this -Maha Kumbh of sports is also the Maha Kumbh of youth.

He said from Startup India to Standup India, From Make in India to AtmaNirbhar India and ‘Vocal for Local’ the youth of India have taken the responsibility of every campaign of New India. He said he felt proud of the youth of the country who prove India’s potential in every field.

He said the Government started recognizing the talents of the country and giving them all necessary support. Despite having talent, our youth used to lag behind due to lack of training and today better training facilities are being given to the players, he added.

He said in 2018, Government established the country’s first National Sports University in Manipur and Major Dhyan Chand Sports University is also going to start in Uttar Pradesh for higher education in sports.

Mr. Modi recalled the feat of India in the Tokyo Olympics where it won 7 medals and said the youth are displaying the similar performance today.

He said our para- Olympians stars also won 19 medals.

Mr. Modi said that this is only a beginning and the country will be strong contenders along with other top nations in the future.

He said that though due to Corona, the Khel Mahakumbh was put on hold for two years, the grandeur with which it is organized now by the Chief Minister of Gujarat BhupendraBhai Patil has filled the young players with renewed vigor.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of state for Sports, Youth and Cultural activities Harsh Sanghvi also spoke on this occasion. 

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi has held one more roadshow in different areas of Ahmedabad city. Large number of people gathered on both sides of the road and cheered the leader.
