Bhopal : Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that disability should be made your strength, not weakness. No physical weakness is ever greater than self-confidence. Referring to the achievements of the disabled of ancient and modern India, he said that the body of Ashtavakra, the author of Ashtavakra Gita, was crooked from 8 places. In the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the disabled have brought 19 medals for the country which proves that nothing can stop such spirits. He called for the need to increase awareness and sensitivity towards disability in the society.
Governor Shri Patel was addressing the Disabled Aids Distribution Programme organized in the Higher Secondary School for the Visually and Hearing Impaired, Shahjahanabad, located in Sparsh Complex, on the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that the Disdabled should consider the equipments given to them only as means. Disabled should make their talent, courage and dedication achievable. There is no destination to which the handicapped cannot reach. There is no goal that a disabled person cannot achieve. What is needed is the special talent within them which has to be recognized, the hidden power must be awakened and brought forth.
The Governor has said that the society has to understand the problems of disabled and children. It is the responsibility of the family, society and all of us to recognize their talent and help them to grow. We must give new direction to their energy.
Attractive cultural performances were given by the differently-abled students in the programme. Hearing impaired girl Khalima Ansari performed a solo dance on Vande Mataram. Visually impaired student Mahima Mali sang the song ‘Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai’ and student Aditya Bhairav performed ‘Ganesh Vandana’. Mentally challenged students Jatin, Indresh, Tanu, Kumkum and Devraj presented a group dance on patriotic songs. Principal Secretary Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Shri Prateek Hajela performed the vote of thanks.
