GUWAHATI : The erosion of the Brahmaputra in the Maijan area on the outskirts of Dibrugarh city is now creating a terrible situation. Due to the heavy erosion, the houses of many families have already been destroyed by the erosion. More than 47 families have to take shelter on Mathauri. If action is not taken through advanced technology, then the entire Dibrugarh city is sure to be inundated. The students’ union has demanded the government and the administration to establish the families who have lost their homes, provide proper facilities to the people taking shelter in Mathauri and prevent erosion. 47 families are living in Mathauri leaving their homes in fear.

More than 750 meters mathauri is sigil. The people of the area are now suffering from extreme insecurity. The government-administration has tried to prevent erosion but the measures have not been able to prevent it due to poor quality of measures. Provide suitable facilities to the families doing so. The local MPs and MLAs have not paid heed to the issue even though the locals are in danger. Fearing public anger, the local MLA arrived early in the morning. The students’ union team inspected the situation and provided food items to the families who were taking shelter in Mathauri.
