In Sri Lanka, an opposition party submitted a no confidence motion against the government over Easter Sunday attacks as several programmes were organized to mark one month of the incident which killed over 250 people including 45 foreigners.

Janatha Vimukthi Peremuna (JVP) brought the motion against the entire government including President, Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers for failing to take measures to prevent the attacks despite information regarding the attacks.

JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the Easter attacks did not happen all of a sudden and the Government was aware of these terrorists. He said foreign intelligence services had informed the government about everything just a few days before the attacks and had the Government acted responsibly, the attack could have been prevented.
