Assam govt asks madrasas to give details of their teachers

GUWAHATI : Madarsas in Assam have been asked to submit all details about teachers working in these institutions to the State Government. Apart from this, madrasas in Assam have also been directed to provide information about the locations of these institutions. Madrasas in Assam have been asked to provide all this information by December 1st.

The December 1st deadline in particular was decided during a meeting of Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Director of Secondary Education Mamta Hojai, other government officials and representatives of madrasas. Madrasas in Assam will have to give all this information to the Directorate of Secondary Education by December 1.Madrasas in Assam came under the radar of investigative agencies after several al-Qaeda operatives in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were suspected, who worked as teachers in madrasas. In Assam, at least 47 people, including madrasa teachers, have been arrested by police for their alleged links with terror outfits.
