GUWAHATI : Today is the International Day against drug abuse and trafficking. Drug trafficking has become a major issue in Assam as well as other parts of the country. The Assam government has also launched a war on drugs to curb the menace. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced action against the drug mafia. Since then, police and administration have become active across the state. Under which a number of cases related to drug trafficking like drug syrup, injection, tablet and brown sugar have been reported. Large scale action has been taken by police and departmental officers in the last 45 days. The drug mafia is so active that despite the effective police action, the business is being carried out on a large scale. According to police records, a consignment of 135 crore rupees has been seized so far in the last 45 days of corona period.

The Assam Police has seized drugs worth Rs 135 crore in 45 days in a massive operation against drugs.
