MANGALDAI : : Adding a new flavor to the electrifying atmosphere on the occasion of Rongali Bihu , the first ever export consignment of green chilly produced by Darrang farmers has reached the neighboring country Bhutan on April 15 . The consignment of three metric tons (MT) is a part of the total target consignment of fifteen MT green chilly set for exporting to the country . It’s the initiative of a local Farm Producer Company (FPC) , namely North East Farmers Support Arms (NEFSA) located at Menapara near here .
“ The vehicle carrying our consignment has reached Bhutan well . We hope that the target of the overall consignment of altogether fifteen MTs could be achieved by us within the stipulated time.” , said Dulal Deka , a director of the board of directors of NEFSA while talking to ANN on Friday evening . “ Our FPC was formed in 2019 where presently we have six hundred thirty shareholders and over two thousand primary members. Right now we are farming in around ninety bighas of land in remote areas and we are trying to offer the adequate market value to the products of the member farmers with support from APART , the district agriculture department and export marketing agency Iffco Kishan Sanchar Ltd.”, said Mahidul Islam , another director of the FPC “We also planning to export maize, brinjal and other vegetables in coming future.”, Islam added. Darrang Deputy Commissioner , Pranab Kr Sarmah ceremonially flagged off the journey of the consignment on April 13 evening in presence of Jyotish Ch Nath , district agriculture officer , Darrang and Rakesh Yadav, marketing manager , Iffco Kishan and others.
