“Har Ghar Dastak” campaign in Kamrup to complete COVID vaccination by  December 5

GUWAHATI : Set the target of vaccination on polling station basis with the help of the list prepared by Asha workers, and prepare a polling station level road map based on the number of immunization.” –said Principal Secretary KK Dwivedi, the Senior Observer of the district for “Har Ghar Dastak” campaign, in a meeting held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup today in presence of the officials engaged in COVID vaccination process. He added that measures have to be taken accordingly to ascertain the exact reason of reluctance of the people to take vaccine in the district. He also directed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kailash Karthik N to make arrangements for taking hourly vaccination report up to December 5. He also stresses upon incorporation of the cause of not getting vaccinated in the report. He also advised to take the help of Gaon Panchayats and Self Help Groups in this campaign.

 Addressing the meeting attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners of the district, Pranab Dutta Goswami and Manali Jain, SDO(C) Rangia Swapneel Paul, SDO (S) Sujata Gogoi, Circle Officers, Joint Director of Health Department and other officials, Kavita Padmanabhan, Observer of Kamrup said that senior officials should approach those who could not be convinced to take the vaccine by the Asha workers. She also said that if the doctors themselves go to meet them, the people will come forward to get vaccinated. On the other hand, she also advised to take initiative for immunization of those who are still not enrolled in the voters’ list but have also attained 18 years of age.

After the meeting, DC Kamrup, Kailash Karthik N and Superintendant of Police, Kamrup Hitesh Chandra Rai addressed a Press Conference in presence of both the Observers. After that both the Observers visited a number of polling stations of Jalukbari and Kamalpur and encouraged people to take vaccine. It may be mentioned that as part of the “Har Ghar Dastak” campaign undertaken by the central government to complete COVID vaccination in the country, the state government has also undertaken a massive monitoring programme to immunize 100 percent of all eligible people of Assam by covering the areas of the state on the basis of polling stations. With a vision to achieve the goal, the Chief Minister of Assam, Ministers, Members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly and also senior officials including the Chief Secretary of Assam will visit the polling station areas from today i.e. November 29 to December 5 next. Through this campaign, individuals who are yet to be vaccinated or have not yet taken the second dose of vaccine or not willing to take vaccine will be motivated to get vaccinated. In the first phase of the campaign, Asha workers have already prepared lists of vaccination at polling station level from November 8 to November 21 to ensure smooth conduct of the campaign and the health department has also made arrangements for vaccination.

 Based on these lists the verification will be done from today. To make the campaign successful in Kamrup district, four nodal officers are nominated for 1,614 polling stations with the aim of 100 percent immunization. In addition to these, 32 zonal officers, 114 sector officers and a total of 1,614 vaccination verification teams (VVT) have been formed. The VVTs consist of four members each having Asha worker, Booth Level Officer and Vaccination Verification Officer and Assistant Vaccination Verification Officer selected from teachers. These nominated people will ensure 100% vaccination at the polling station level. It may be mentioned here that 17,67,759 doses of vaccine has been administered so far in Kamrup district. Out of these, 11,36,612 are for first doses and 6,31,147 are second dose.
