GUWAHATI : In a daring Operation, a Guwahati Police Team along with Manipur Police have been able to arrest and bring back to Assam a very important linkman of a Manipur based drug trafficking network that was trying to spread its tentacles here. The Operation was conducted in Moirang area of Bishnupur District of Manipur, which is considered very sensitive from the Law & Order perspective. The arrested accused is one Shabir Ahamad (29 years) s/o Md. Naseer Ahamad of Kwakta, Moirang PS, Bishnupur District, Manipur. The arrest has been made in connection with Basistha PS Case No 1533/21 u/s 21(C)/29 NDPS Act, which relates to the earlier seizure of a large quantity of Heroin and a truck as well as the arrest of 2 accused in Guwahati on 19-08-21.
Preliminary questioning has revealed valuable information about drug trafficking networks. Investigation of the case is on to unearth further linkages. On other hand, Based on an intelligence input from SB, today an EGPD Team (East Guwahati District Police) tracked a lady drug trafficker Khumi Khawung, 45 yrs D/O Lt Lathangmawia of Vill & PS Vaivakwn, Aizawl, Mizoram. She had come from Shillong and was camping at Kunjalata Lodge, Bhangagarh. A search of her hotel room yeilded approximately 8500 Yaba (Meth) tablets, from her possession in the presence of independent witnesses. Legal formalities are underway, as is further questioning of the accused.
